    1. Data controller

    2. What data we collect

    When you place an order, we store:

    • Name and any company name
    • Postal address (street, postal code, city, country)
    • Email address and phone number
    • Order details (knife type, quantity, notes)
    • Payment confirmation from Stripe (we don't store card details)
    • IP address on visit (technical server log)

    3. Why we process the data

    • Service performance – sending the knife envelope, handling and returning your knives (legal basis: contract).
    • Communication – sending order confirmations, shipping notifications and answering questions (legal basis: contract).
    • Bookkeeping – complying with the Finnish Accounting Act (legal basis: legal obligation).
    • Fraud protection – via Stripe (legal basis: legitimate interest).

    4. Retention periods

    • Order data: 7 years under the Finnish Accounting Act (Chapter 2 § 10).
    • Email correspondence: up to 2 years after the last contact.
    • Technical server logs: 30 days.

    5. Who we share data with

    We never sell your data. We share it only with subprocessors needed to perform the service:

    • Stripe (Ireland/USA) – payment processing. Standard Contractual Clauses apply.
    • Posti Group Oyj (Finland) – postal delivery of knife envelopes.
    • Supabase / Lovable Cloud (EU) – database and hosting.
    • Resend (USA) – transactional email delivery. Standard Contractual Clauses apply.
    • Authorities – if we are legally required to disclose data.

    6. Your rights (GDPR)

    You have the right to:

    • Be informed which data we hold about you (right of access)
    • Have inaccurate data corrected
    • Have data erased when no longer needed (limited by the Accounting Act for order data)
    • Request restriction of processing
    • Receive your data in a machine-readable format (portability)
    • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
    • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)

    7. Complaints to the supervisory authority

    If you are dissatisfied with our processing of personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

    8. Cookies

    We only use technically necessary cookies so that the website and payment work. We don't use any cookies for marketing or analytics.

    We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page with the date at the top.
